President Donald Trump's D.C. prosecutor, on the brink of being fired, pinned the blame for a major recent debacle on Trump's Secretary of the Interior. The showdown at the White House, as reported by The New York Times, came as Trump was on the warpath because his "vandalism" prosecution for supposed sabotage of his renovations for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool crumbled, and Jeanine Pirro's prosecutors admitted Interior had evidence of damage from faulty renovation days before the supposed vandalism occurred."After about an hour of intense back-and-forth [in the White House], Ms. Pirro emerged with her job intact, for now," said the report. "During the meeting, Ms. Pirro, her voice raised at times," went after Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, "accusing him of misleading the president. She made the case that Mr. Burgum had promoted a self-serving cover story to conceal his own missteps."Still, Trump had a lot of angry words for Pirro, a former bombastic personality at Fox News. But according to CNN reporting, she may have one ace up her sleeve to prevent herself from being fired: her long personal history and friendship with the president.“It would be hard for him to fire her. He likes her, and he’s not the same impulsive guy he was during the first term,” one WHite House insider told CNN, but added that “anything can happen” at this point.Even if Trump doesn't fire Pirro, her troubles may not be over, as there is a mounting chorus of MAGA allies in the right-wing ecosystem calling for her to be heard over her other various failed prosecutions of Trump's enemies.
