Jennifer Esposito was once the kind of Donald Trump supporter his campaigns dreams about. The Kingman, Arizona resident volunteered tirelessly as a door-to-door grassroots organizer and an a official “Trump Force Captain,” pouring her own money into custom MAGA merchandise — including a hat for her dog and a $20 miniature replica for an action figure that reminded her of her husband.Today, according to The Arizona Republic, those mementos are now buried out of sight in a drawer, and Esposito is sitting out Trump’s October 14 rally in nearby Bullhead City — the same venue where she once posed for a selfie with Air Force One.“I have lost all faith in President Trump, honestly,” Esposito told the paper. “I wish I could get those years of my life back, because what difference did it really make? He never even fulfilled his very first campaign promise, which was to lock up Hillary Clinton.”Esposito is far from alone. Trump’s deeply unpopular war in Iran rattled voters across Mohave County who took his anti-war pledges at face value, and sent gas prices surging by more than a dollar and a half over the past year, now averaging $4.85 a gallon according to AAA. His tariff policies have driven up costs further, and lingering questions about his alleged ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein have added fuel to the fire.“Every time I go to the gas station, I text everybody,” said Buster Johnson, a former Republican county supervisor. “I go, ‘Tell me again how you guys are lowering gas prices?’”Esposito, who runs the only right-leaning newspaper in Arizona’s most conservative county, said her outlet won’t even bother covering the rally. “There’s just a lot of things that actually affect the locals more than the president coming to just give a propaganda speech,” she said.Political observers warn the visit could do more harm than good for Arizona Republicans heading into the midterms, with key congressional candidates already keeping their distance from the event.
