A longtime Trump ally has an awkward confession about Katie Miller, according to a Vanity Fair profile of the couple's social life: they privately can't stand her, but they'd never say no to her.Katie hosts parties and runs a podcast, and the ally explained why that matters. Publicly, the ally says they love her. In private, they don't. But the calculation is simple."If she asks you to go on the podcast, or come over for dinner, you say yes, because Stephen Miller is the second-most powerful person in the world," the ally said. The invitations are hard to turn down because the parties draw much of the administration. One late-August bash for former Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt's birthday featured a cake built to look like the briefing room lectern, hibachi chefs who sprayed sake into guests' mouths, and a mechanical bull. A regular guest said close to 100 people attended and that guests joke about needing a designated survivor, given how many Cabinet members show up. Other regulars include the Rubios, the Hegseths, the Burgums, and Kash Patel and his fiancée. Katie also threw a party for Todd Blanche's attorney general confirmation.Leavitt, who calls Katie an over-the-top, welcoming host, said Stephen is "super warm and fun" at home.Friends say there's a defensive streak to the entertaining. After neighbors in northern Virginia wrote protest messages in chalk outside the Millers' home and passed out flyers with their address, the couple relocated to a military base in Washington, where other top officials also live and pay rent. One friend says administration figures can't go out in public without being harassed, so "they have to do this stuff in Camelot."Longtime hostess Sally Quinn objects to the arrangement, calling the use of military quarters for White House staff "an abuse."Katie's influence reaches beyond her backyard. The Atlantic reported she helped plan a dinner for Paramount Skydance chief David Ellison honoring the Trump White House while his company needed regulatory approval for a merger. She was reportedly in talks with the company about buying her podcast at the time.
