Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has been known to say some wild things, but his appearance on "Life, Liberty & Levin" on Sunday may have set a new high bar. Cruz appeared on the show to promote his forthcoming book, "Going Further: The Incomparable Clarence Thomas," set to be published on August 25. He described the book as a depiction of the most conservative Supreme Court Justice's journey from "radical leftist" to principled conservative. "He is one-of-a-kind," Cruz said. "His personal story is jaw-dropping. A lot of young people don't know his personal story; they don't know he started from abject poverty. They don't know he started from nothing. They do not know he ended up having a period where he was a radical leftist. A lot of people don't know that in college, Clarence Thomas had a giant afro, wore camouflage pants and combat boots, and protested in Harvard Square, with Malcolm X on the wall."Cruz also said that Thomas will be the longest-tenured Supreme Court Justice by 2028, a feat that he described as "breathtaking."He also shared a snippet about how he came up with the book's title. "The reason for the title, 'Going Further,' is that there is no injustice in the history of the Supreme Court that has been more willing to go further ... If a president is wrong, we should overturn it. We should go further, go back to the Constitution, go back to the original understanding of the Constitution," Cruz said. "Justice Thomas is a scholar."Cruz: A lot of people don’t know that he was a radical leftist….
