Forensic psychiatrist flags 'dangerous' signs of Trump's mental decline: 'Alarming'

A prominent forensic psychiatrist flagged disturbing new signs that President Donald Trump's mental state continues to decline. Dr. Bandy Lee, president of the World Mental Health Coalition, argued during a new episode of MeidasTouch's "The Weekend Show" that Trump's recent attempt to wrap himself up in the tragedy of 9/11 shows how "fragile he is in his sense of self." During the recent 9/11 commemoration ceremony, Trump claimed that first responders pulled him from the rubble of one of the World Trade Center buildings. He also claimed he sent teams to help respond to the tragedy. Fact-checkers have declared both claims to be untrue. Lee argued that Trump's claims are similar to what a toddler would do when trying to be "king or queen of the universe.""It is abnormal and pathological when it involves a fully-grown adult, whether it is because of arrested development or because one has regressed to that state," Lee said. Questions about Trump's mental fitness have swirled throughout his second administration. Trump has been photographed sleeping in the Oval Office during press events, and his right side has drooped in recent public appearances. Lee noted that Trump's decision to continue lying about the events of 9/11 shows the amount of cognitive stress he's under. Polling has shown Democrats have a momentum advantage heading into the midterms, and the war in Iran continues to hurt the American economy, she noted. Lee also pointed to the memes that Trump has posted online, especially the one of him driving a spaceship and blowing up the entire world, as "alarming indications of how endangered he feels psychologically and how he needs to fight back, and become the most powerful and dangerous person on the planet.""That is where his mind is going," Lee said. Lee added that Trump's mental state has put the world in an "extremely dangerous" situation because Trump may be willing to use devastating force in order to save his self-image. "The setup that we have is that we have no way of countermanding a, fit or not ... there's no way to countermand a nuclear weapon," Lee said.
